The grand old party (GOP) is trying to weaponize the IRS against the Gaza solidarity protesters at college and university campuses across the United States.
The same Republican politicians who once screamed and howled over the IRS being weaponized by Democrats against conservatives are now doing the exact same thing against the non-profit groups behind the protests.
Fifteen Republican senators have ordered the IRS to investigate whether the non-profit groups identified have in any way violated their tax-exempt status by supporting Hamas, a designated terrorist group.
One of the senators, Republican Joni Ernst of Iowa, picked the following non-profit groups to have the IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel probe to see if they “engaged in conduct warranting revocation of their tax-exempt statuses on the basis of their financial support of NSJP:
National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJP)
AJP Educational Foundation
Tides Foundation
Westchester Peace Action Committee Foundation (WESPAC Foundation)
Victims of the October 7 incident in Israel have already filed lawsuits against AJP and NSJP for propagating Hamas propaganda in the United States. The suits accuse AJP and NSJP of exerting “control” over various campus chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine.
“It is long-established precedent that when 501(c)(3) organizations have ‘planned activities that violate laws’ or engage in activities designed ‘to induce the commission of a crime or if the accomplishment of the purpose is otherwise against public policy,’ the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has grounds to revoke their tax-exempt status,” the 15 senators wrote in their letter to the IRS.
“In fact, the IRS has set the precedent that ‘organizations have been held not to qualify for IRC 501(c)(3) on grounds that the activities of the organizations in question contravened public policy even though the organizations did not violate any federal statutes or state or local laws.”

In the eyes of the 15 senators, there is no legitimate form of protest against Israel in this context because to oppose Israel is to support Hamas, they say, which is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
“In light of this abhorrent support for an FTO, we call on you to initiate an investigation to determine whether financial supporters of NSJP, including but not limited to AJP, the WESPAC Foundation, and the Tides Foundation, have engaged in conduct warranting their tax-exempt status to be stripped,” their letter further reads.
In addition to Sen. Ernst, the following senators signed the letter:
Sen. Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La.)
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.)
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.)
Sen. Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kan.)
Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.)
Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Id.)
Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Ark.)
Sen. James E. Risch (R-Id.)
Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.)
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.)
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.)
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Ut.)
Sen. Katie Boyd Britt (R-Al.)
Other efforts at the federal level to silence free speech include a newly proposed bill that would make it a crime to criticize Jews or Israel. Offenders could lose their travel restrictions by being put on the No Fly List.
“All of that land was called Palestine before the 1940s,” one of our readers noted. “I don’t believe these are even the true Jews of the Bible that were semitic. Many of today’s Jews are Khazarian people who ‘converted’ to Judaism in the 8th century.”
“And now these traitors want to put Bibi back in the White House,” wrote another, skeptical about Donald Trump and his ties to Zionism. “Going, going, gone! Sold to ‘Israel!'”
Another added that IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel is also an Israeli sympathizer, which is very convenient as well.
